The Groove City Black Heritage & Culture Group began as a committee in March 2017, The committee was formed to bring events to Pine Street area of Cambridge, MD as a collaboration with Downtown Cambridge Main Street. The Committee included community members and other natives of Cambridge, MD, who no longer reside in Cambridge. The Groove City Culture Fest was the first event hosted on Pine Street on August 16, 2017. This event was well-attended the community and surrounding areas but also attracted many natives of Cambridge that no longer live here. The Groove City Culture Fest was the rebirth and celebration of "Black Culture Day" an event that was held in the 1970s for 6 years. Groove City Culture Fest is a signature event that is held on the third Saturday in August.
GCBHCG mission is to educate, unite and rejuvenate the historical essence of the African American music, art and cultural experience and celebration in Groove City, Cambridge, MD.
